Nextcloud BPMN App: Version 1.1.0 and changes

We have uploaded a new release of the BPMN Nextcloud app!

This app is an implementation of the open-source BPMN.io into the Nextcloud. BPMN.io is a JavaScript application based on the Camunda modeler and maintained by the Camunda team. This lets developers easily integrate BPMN modeling into any web-based content management system. It also has many optional components available, making it possible to customize a modeler with a great deal of detail.

BPMN.io modeler integrated into Nextcloud

Nextcloud is also an open-source technology. Its file-hosting software includes a wide variety of apps for managing, sharing, and editing files either alone or collaboratively. The Nextcloud app ecosystem currently includes over 200 apps offering powerful security capabilities, team productivity features and infrastructure integrations. BPMN is now one of them.

Our Nextcloud implementation integrates the BPMN.io modeler into Nextcloud. Users can build and edit their own BPMN diagrams directly within Nextcloud. The tool features printing and direct links to resources. We are currently using it as our modeler for BPMN trainings with Serge Schiltz and the processCentric training team! This makes it easy for students to complete practice BPMN modeling exercises and for trainers to check their diagrams and give effective feedback.

What’s new?

Our most recent update has integrated subprocess printing. Now, when you print your diagrams, you’ll be able to see your collapsed subprocesses as separate diagrams within the same PDF document.

We’ve also implemented direct links for Call Activities and Data Objects. Call activities now have a field called “BPMN Model”, where you can link directly to the process that your activity is calling. When you next load the diagram, you’ll be able to see a link button in the corner of the Activity, which will directly open the diagram in a new tab.

Data Object References and Data Store References have a similar function. Using the field “Data reference URL”, you can link directly to the necessary document.

Support for Nextcloud 27 is in the works, and should be available soon.
