  • The Foundation and Advanced exams are organized by the certification body TÜV SÜD Examination Institute. We recommend taking the exams online from your office or home office. They can be taken within a three-day time slot. It is also possible to take a face-to-face exam at various locations in Switzerland.

  • Exam details
    • Foundation exam
      • Duration: 60 minutes
      • 40 multiple-choice questions, each with one correct answer.
      • Pass mark: 60% correct answers. One point is awarded for each correct answer. You receive 0 points for each incorrect answer.
      • For on-site exams, you will receive the result and certificate immediately after the exam. For online exams, you will receive the certificate within 3 working days.
    • Advanced exam
      • Part 1: Multiple-choice questions
        • Duration: 60 minutes.
        • 30 multiple-choice questions, each with one or more correct answers.
        • Pass mark: 60% correct answers.
        • One point is awarded for each correct answer.
        • One point is subtracted for each incorrect answer.
        • If the answer is not given, 0 points are awarded.
        • No fewer than 0 points can be achieved within a question.
      • Part 2: Multiple choice with practical situations
        • Duration: 60 minutes.
        • 15 descriptions of practical situations with multiple-choice questions, one or more correct answers.
        • Pass mark: 60% of the possible points.
        • One point is awarded for each correct answer.
        • One point is deducted for each incorrect answer.
        • If the question is not answered, 0 points are awarded.
        • No fewer than 0 points can be achieved within a question.
        • During this part, you are allowed to consult the reference manual, either a printed reference manual that you have brought with you or the electronic version provided by TÜV SÜD. You can also bring a TÜV SÜD-approved overview of the scenarios, such as the processCentric poster.
      • Overall assessment:
        • In both parts of the exam, you must achieve 60% of the points.
        • For in-person exams, you will receive the result and the certificate immediately after the exam. For online exams, you will receive the certificate within 3 business days.
  • Exam registration
    • For self-learning options (eLearning or simulations), you can check the possible dates and register directly on the TÜV SÜD website.
    • For public virtual/in-person training or customized training with 4 or more participants, we can organize online or in-person exams at your preferred location and date.
  • Project staff, prospective and experienced project managers or controllers who want to learn the HERMES method and acquire the “HERMES Foundation” and “HERMES Advanced” certificates.
  • Basic knowledge or initial experience in project management
